Ms. Larsen's Message

Mesquite High School is a comprehensive alternative education program offering a variety of instructional options to meet the educational needs of students. Classes are kept small to allow interaction and an exchange of ideas between students and teachers and between the students themselves. Mesquite has both continuation and independent study programs.

The staff at Mesquite High School , in partnership with students, parents, and community, is committed to the intellectual success and personal growth of all students. Mesquite provides a safe, supportive, and academically challenging environment in which students can thrive both personally and intellectually. Our academic program focuses on four Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLR's). In order to achieve these goals, the staff works together to develop strategies to improve academic achievement. Areas of improvement are those identified by standardized, as well as criterion referenced tests. This interdisciplinary process of collaboration creates a sense of excitement for teaching and learning, and accepts no excuses for lack of student success.

The climate of our school is peaceful, caring, and accepting. Our philosophy is "Freedom Through Responsibility". By modeling and teaching this philosophy, we believe that our students will improve in their ability to establish and maintain healthy and responsible relationships, increase their self-confidence, and develop positive attitudes toward school, life, and learning.
